Weekend Check In
I’m back!
Hola subscribers! Hope your 2025 has been off to a good start. I’ve been on a sabbatical from writing due to busyness at the day job and a lack of things to say. I’m working on a new post on Roman history that I should have up next week.
In the meantime, here’s what I’ve been up to on the literary front.
Currently Reading:
The Iliad (trans. Richmond Lattimore)
Othello
The Classical Tradition by Gilbert Highet
On the agenda for 2025:
Andrew Jackson and the Course of American Freedom, 1822–1832 by Robert Remini
Moby Dick
Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal, 1932–1940 by William Leuchtenberg
Clashing Over Commerce: a History of U.S. Trade Policy by Douglas Irwin
Buckley by Sam Tanenhaus
The Laws by Plato (trans. CDC Reeve)
What are you reading? Anything exciting planned for this year? Please sound off in the comments section. Will be back next week with the post on Rome. Hope you have a good weekend and live in anticipation until then!

So far this year I have read Heart of Darkness and Spring Snow. I plan to finish Mishima's Sea of Fertility series before the year is out.
